BUYER JOB
Summary:
Manages the MRO supply base to ensure that all suppliers meet expectations for quality, delivery, cost, and technology for the Spirit Lake and Milford facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &
Responsibilities:
1. Manage the total acquisition cost of MRO items.
2. Prepares and solicits requests for quotes and proposals.
3. Manage central stores to maintain accurate inventories, set adequate stock levels, and determine actions for non-moving items
4. Coordinate the implementation of cost reduction projects, working in conjunction with the MRO purchasing team
5. Monitors supplier capabilities, lead-times, and capacity to ensure on-time delivery of MRO items needed to support production, maintenance, and other end users.
6. Conduct in-depth analysis of costing information provided by supplier and supplier''s financial reporting.
7. Leads negotiations and problem resolution discussions with suppliers and ensures the adequacy and timeliness of supplier correction action plans.
8. Identifies new product and process technologies and facilitates introducing the organization to suppliers that may possess new or superior technical capabilities.
9. Manages the plants purchase requisition system; including negotiating best pricing and quality and submitting PO's to suppliers.
10. Other duties as assigned by supervisor
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE 1. BS/BA in Business, Operations, or Engineering required.
2. Effective negotiation, communication, decision making, and problem solving skills.
3. 1-3 years previous materials planning or purchasing experience preferred.
4. Highly organized and effective in managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
5. Ability to professionally represent Polaris with suppliers. Capable of reading and interpreting engineering documentation and technical data.
6. Good
computer
skills including; excel, PowerPoint, word, and access
7. Basic knowledge of MRP
systems
.
WORKING CONDITIONS: 1. Fast-paced office environment.
2. Up to 25% travel may be required
